Ok, even though the Wings lost to the stupid Ducks and won't be advancing in the playoffs, I still feel all Detroit. As such, today I mostly disagree with my last post. Today I am NOT longing to remember the good in the Great Oz, because really I don't think there is any.
To remember it is to create it, and I honestly think that there are some big drawbacks to 'creating our own reality'. Right now I just want to call a spade a spade... Oz is a big, ugly person. Inside and out.
Right now, I wish it was October 30 and I was in Detroit. Yeah... Devils Night. That city knows how to party! (and get rid of crackhouses all in one fell swoop)

Hi there! I'm Krafty's friend, Mavis. :P One of the many Mavises in his life. LOL Anyways, I wanted to comment on your entry below this one, but there wasn't a comments link. I remember Harry Truman's legacy re-surfacing in the mid-90's when the issue of Gays in the military (don't ask, don't tell) issue came up. Many people thought Bill Clinton should have taken a stand similar to the one Truman did in 1948 when he de-segregated the Army: he was the Commander-in-Chief and what he said, went. :P
Harry Truman wasn't a very popular President during his day (esp. at the end of it), but in hindsight and thanks to David McCullough's 1992 Truman bio many people view Truman as the last 'honest' President (ah, I forgot Jimmy Carter).
With the political climate being what it is now and faith in the President at an all time low, words of wisdom from Bonnie Tyler come to mind, "Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods? . . . I need a hero. I'm holding out for a hero." ;P
Hope that sheds some light on the subject and gives you a laugh.
Mavis! Hi there! Yes, I don't know why the comment link didn't happen on that post... odd. Anyway, so glad you commented. My mother was always a big Truman fan... Carter too.
We do need a hero. Krafty and I were just having a political bitch-fest last night. We were bemoaning how the sheep of this country seem willing to hand over everything to the current administration without any concern. Given the last election, I fear we will not get a new hero. I hope I am wrong... otherwise I will have to go Detroit on D.C.'s ass!
